Update August 2006.

Many visitors of PROJIMO have always seen Marcelo in the Prosthetics shop.
Marcelo left the project end July 2006, to join the rest of his family in Culiacan.

He now works for Mas Validos, one of the  spin-off programs of PROJIMO.

Update April 2008:
We have just received the news that Marcelo is very ill.

Update May 2008:
Marcelo passed away from cancer. We shall all miss him.
He was a good man, and like a brother to Marielos.

Alberto:
was apprenticed to Marcelo and took over the prosthetics shop when Marcelo left.
Alonso
came to PROJIMO shortly thereafter and is apprenticing with Alberto.
update: In 2010 Alberto and Alonso returned to the 'rancho' where they grew up near Culiacan.

Update December 2006.

Early December 2006, Jonathan Batzdorff, CPO and his wife Rose visited PROJIMO again.
This is Jon's 4th visit to PROJIMO.

The first time, he came as a representative of the Barr foundation. When that foundation's 1-year commitment ended, Jon nevertheless kept coming on his own and continued to support PROJIMO through his own company ProsthetiKa

Jon provides prosthetic components free of charge, as well as financial assistance to people who cannot afford to pay the labor fees that PROJIMO charges.  Even more importantly, he shares his knowledge and experience by teaching the workers at PROJIMO. Every time he comes, he concentrates on one of the more difficult aspects of prosthesis making. This time, it was a hip disarticulation.

In the week from 4 through 9 December , Jon instructed Alberto and Alonzo, and Marcelo who came all the way from  Culiacan to attend this instructional workshop.

Thank you, Jon and Rose!
