    | Peter Griesbacher (1864-1933) was a
German composer, organist and carillon specialist. He studied theology in
Passau and became a priest in 1886. From 1894 to 1895 he was musical prefect
at the theological seminary of St. Emmeram in Regensburg. His good
reputation as a church music composer brought him the post of teacher at the
church music school in Regensburg in 1911, where he taught counterpoint,
form and style. Around the same time he became vicar and then canon at the
Kollegiatstift St. Johann in Regensburg. In 1930 the monastery voted him
    deacon.
