Biography information provided by the publisher:

János Vajda was born in 1949 in Miskolc. [Hungaria]
He studied choral conducting at the Liszt Academy ot Music in Budapest and composition from Emil Petrovics. He graduated in 1975. He completed his postgraduale studies at the Sweelinck Conservatory in 1979-80. Between 1974 and 1979 he was the trainer of the Hungarian Radio Choir. He has been teaching at the Liszt Academy ot Music since 1981. First he taught prosody later he was given an independent course on the faculty ot composing. His manifold activity äs a composer embraces operas (Mario and the Magician), pieces tor symphony orchestra and chamber orchestra, choral works (Stabat Mater, Via Crucis, Zsoltárosének etc.) He has won several awards including the Erkel Award in 1981 and the Bartók-Pásztory Award in 1990.
