He founded a Palestrina Society in 1879 and since vol ix was editor in chief
of Breitkopf and llar tel's complete edition of Palestrina's compositions 32
vol s finished in 1894 which he aided not only by his experience and
learning but also by rare MSS from his personal collection In 1SS9 II
received the title of Dr thcol lion causa from the Univ of Wtlrzburg Works
